Now that the appeal case is officially in litigation, we will be limited in what details we will be able to share on social media. We will keep you updated as the case moves along, share major twists and turns, and we will not share strategic information.
Recap Last Week’s Case:
The Judge has, more or less, temporarily granted the motion to dismiss. The court has given Mr. Sprouse until December 10 to file a new appeal. He now has an attorney and the new appeal is in the works for refile on Monday the 10th.
*Please note that there will NOT be a court case hearing on the 10th.*
Once the new appeal is filed on the 10th, the county is expected to respond by requesting another motion to dismiss. There will be another hearing on that motion. Once that hearing has been scheduled, we will let you know when the court case date.
Regarding the questions about other citizens filing alongside and/or filing their own appeal, with very certain narrow exceptions, there is no opportunity to do so. In the future, there may be opportunities for individuals to support the case. At that time, we will reach out and let you know the details.
In order to protect the effort to stop the proposed mega landfill and to maintain the level of integrity we aspire – we will post and share what we can moving forward. We will work diligently to share factual, relevant, current information. We will share updates on the legal case, proposed mega landfill status updates, information around fundraising events, meeting dates for CCLA, Cumberland County, etc., news and media articles, and relevant visitor posts.
If you wish to contribute towards the legal cost, please email us
and we will let you know how.
Thank you for your continued involvement and support! Reminder of our next Community Townhall Meeting scheduled for December 9th at 4:00 (late start due to the Cumberland County Christmas Parade) and our Hunter’s Lunch scheduled for Saturday December 8th! See you there!
