Rain! No snow! YES!…
As we’ve been blocked by snow these past two attempts of hosting our Community Townhall Meeting, seems we will be seeing you this weekend! So glad to be able to catch up after almost two months. We have a lot of new developments to share in our efforts of putting an end to County Waste’s Greenridge multi-state mega proposed landfill – aka Mega Dump! And we have some goodies to share on Sunday too – homemade goodies, punch, t-shirts, real live auctioneer!
Community Townhall Meeting – This Sunday, January 20th, from 3:00 to 5:00
Cumberland County Community Center located at 11 Davenport Road in Cumberland County.
Spread the word, bring a neighbor, and we look forward to seeing you on the 20th!
In the meantime, see a quick rundown of court cases, County Waste’s Greenridge proposed mega landfill status, and upcoming events. We will go in more detail during Sunday’s meeting.
Rezoning Appeal – Mr. Sprouse’s rezoning appeal case was settled out of court last week. We are excited that other legal avenues are actively being pursued. Strong support from community is what will make this work… and we are proud to say, it is working! We have support!
County Waste landfill review and approval – this month, mid-January, County Waste is expected to submit a Notice of Intent (NOI) to the state
Department of Environmental Quality to build a landfill in Cumberland County. Once this is done DEQ will be evaluating the environmental impact of the landfill.
Online Petition opposing the landfill – once the NOI has been submitted the Cumberland County Landfill Awareness petition opposing the landfill will be submitted to DEQ.
Letter Writing Campaign – also, after the NOI has been submitted, we will release the letters that YOU completed in the Community Townhall meetings. We will also share other means that will be made available for you to use your voice to stop the dump.
That’s all for now. We look forward to seeing you this Sunday! These fights have their ups and downs and we are staying strong and steady!
Very excited of how the community is getting more involved. We will share more detailed information on Sunday – in person.
